# Advanced Joinery

In [Printing](/zerotohero/3d-printing-zero-to-hero/core-skills/printing.md), we only discussed the 'conventional' approach to realising your designs - printing them a single, solid body.

In practice, there are many circumstances where you might wish to print components of a design separately, and join these either temporarily or permanently. In this chapter, we will discuss:

* How to join 3D prints together by [Glueing and Plastic Welding](/zerotohero/3d-printing-zero-to-hero/advanced-skills/advanced-joinery/glueing-and-plastic-welding.md), which can significantly reduce print times/support requirements, and,
* How to use [Threaded Inserts & Non-Permanent Fasteners](/zerotohero/3d-printing-zero-to-hero/advanced-skills/advanced-joinery/threaded-inserts-and-non-permanent-fasteners.md) for the same purpose.
