# Provided Resources

We provide a range of resources to support you in this project.

## Standard Lifting Hook `.stl` File

Throughout this capstone, you will work with the provided below standard lifting hook `.stl` file.

You *must not* modify the geometry of the hook to make it stronger - in fact, you are only provided with a `.stl` (rather than a full CAD model) to prevent you from doing so.&#x20;

Instead, you must ensure the strength of the hook by controlling the print settings, orientation, etc.

## PrusaSlicer

To complete this project, download and install the latest version of *PrusaSlicer*. It is available for Windows, Mac and Linux.

:man\_mage: **Important:** We encourage the use of *PrusaSlicer* within the Design & Build Studios for maximum compatibility with the our Teaching Print Farm. You might have prior experience with another slicer software - awesome! Please use *PrusaSlicer* for this capstone project.

## 3D Printers

To print your sliced files, you will use the Design & Build Studios Teaching Print Farm. This farm is provisioned with (among other things) a number of Prusa i3 MK3s printers.

To utilise the farm, contact D\&B staff for induction and sign-off.

## Test Equipment

To test the strength of your hook, you will use the *3D Printing Zero to Hero Testing Kit.* We keep the testing kit in the Design & Build Studios, and you can contact a demonstrator for access to the kit. The kit consists of:

* A 3D printed test handle,
* A single M6 bolt and nut.
* A single $$8;\text{kg}$$ test weight (kettlebell) with a length of chain tied around it for attaching to your hook.

:man\_mage: **Important:** To ensure that anyone wishing to use one has free access, please only take a testing kit when you are ready to test/demonstrate your printed hook and return it once finished.&#x20;

Please also ensure that the bolt and nut are secured in the handle when returning the kit.
